The above coin images are not from "The People('s) Republic of China", but are instead from "The Republic of China", which was established in 1912 (some say as early as 1908) by Sun Yat-Sen, with the assistance of The British Empire. These coins were issued in several variations of the same obverse and reverse designs due to the various mints issuing them, but the initial design seems to have come from the Tientsin Mint, starting circa 1912.

The title "The People's Republic of China" did not come into use until after the communist takeover, later on, circa 1946-47. They inserted the misnomer "People's" to the previous republic's title, in similar manner to most other communist government regimes. Soviet Chinese and Communist Chinese coins were already being circulated into China during the 1920's and 1930's, but the above coins are from the authentic Republic, under Sun Yat-Sen, et al, circa 1912-1920.

Perhaps the word "People" could be removed from the above title(s).

    Hope this helps!
